Anthropology, BA (2020-2021) (AA-T Global Studies or AA-T Social Justice Studies)

The AA-T in Global Studies or AA-T in Social Justice Studies guarantees the student will transfer with the completion of 60 transferable semester units. Students who earn either of these transfer degrees will meet the 39 units of lower division GE and 21 units of elective credit at SJSU. Below is the path to the BA Anthropology degree in 60 semester units for students who earns either the AA-T in Global Studies or AA-T in Social Justice Studies.

2nd Semester (15 units)
- SJSU Studies Area S HIST 170S - Topics in American History: American Identities and Institutions meets US1 and Area S. If US1 was met previously then take a different Area S course 3 units
- ANTH 12 - Introduction to Human Evolution or university elective if met prior to transfer 3 units
- ANTH 13 - Archaeology or university elective if met prior to transfer 3 units
- Major Cultural Anthropology, two courses from ANTH 105 , ANTH 107 , ANTH 108 , ANTH 125 , ANTH 129 , ANTH 130 , ANTH 132 , ANTH 134 , ANTH 136 , ANTH 142 , ANTH 143 , ANTH 144 , ANTH 148 , ANTH 149 , ANTH 173 , ANTH 175 , ANTH 176 , ANTH 177 6 units
3rd Semester (15 units)
- SJSU Studies Area R 3 units
- SJSU Studies Area V in US and California Government POLS 170V - American Politics in Global Perspective meets US2, US3 and Area V. Or take a different Area V if US2, US3 is met prior to transfer. 3 units
- Archaeology, two courses from ANTH 143 , ANTH 161 , ANTH 162 , ANTH 164 , ANTH 165 , ANTH 168 , ANTH 169 6 units
- Research Methods, one course from ANTH 149 , ANTH 155 , ANTH 168 , or ANTH 169 3 units
4th Semester (15 units)
- Physical Anthropology, two courses from ANTH 151 , ANTH 152 , ANTH 154 , ANTH 155 , ANTH 156 , ANTH 157 , ANTH 159 6 units
- University Electives - Upper Division ANTH 180 , ANTH 184 , ANTH 187 , ANTH 190 , ANTH 195 as appropriate and with approval of advisor 6 units
- ANTH 191 - Frontiers of Anthropology 3 units
Roadmap Notes
A minimum of 40 upper division units must be completed for degree. This roadmap is a sample pathway. Students may take their archaeology, physical anthropology, and cultural anthropology major classes in any of their semesters at SJSU. Check with a major advisor regarding the most appropriate course sequence for you. 60 units minimum will be transferred with this degree, however up to 70 transfer units can be applied to the lower division and lower division electives if articulated.
