Sociology, Race and Ethnic Studies Concentration, BA (2024-2025) (AA-T Global Studies or AA-T Social Justice Studies)

The AA-T Global Studies or AA-T Social Justice Studies guarantees the student will transfer with the completion of 60 transferable semester units. Students who earn either of these transfer degrees will meet the 39 units of lower division GE and 21 units of elective credit at SJSU.
Below is the path to the BA in Sociology, Race and Ethnic Studies concentration degree in 60 semester units for students who earn either the AA-T in Global Studies or AA-T in Social Justice Studies.

- AAS 185 - Ethnic Studies Methodologies OR SOCI 162 - Race and Ethnic Relations 3 units
- SOCI 105B - Advanced Qualitative Research Methods OR SOCI 181B - Sociology Career Capstone 3 units
- *Area 2 - African American Studies: AFAM 112 , AFAM 120 , AFAM 125 , or AFAM 134 3 units
- *Area 3 - Chicana and Chicano Studies: CCS 115 , CCS 120 , CCS 125 , CCS 127 , CCS 130 , or CCS 135 3 units
- *Area 4 - Native American Studies: ANTH 164 , ANTH 175 , ANTH 176 , or SOCI 142 3 units
Roadmap Notes
A minimum of 40 upper division units must be completed for degree. This roadmap is a sample pathway. Check with a major advisor regarding the most appropriate course sequence for you. 60 units minimum will be transferred with this degree, however up to 70 transfer units can be applied to the lower division and lower division electives if articulated.
* Areas 1, 2, 3, and 4 courses may be taken in any order during any semester.
