Computer Science, BS (2020-2021) (AS-T Computer Science)

The AS-T in Computer Science guarantees completion of 60 transferable units and all lower division core GE satisfied. This transfer degree will meet the CS 46A, CS 46B, CS 47; MATH 30, MATH 31, MATH 42; PHYS 50, PHYS 51 requirements at SJSU. A grade of “C-” or better is required for courses being used to meet any requirement in the major, including preparation courses. Below is the path to the BS Computer Science degree in 60 semester units with the transfer AS-T Computer Science degree.

This roadmap has an approved P.E. waiver.

Writing Skills Test (WST) - Taken and Passed
CS 100W - Technical Writing Workshop (Z) 3 units
Preparation for the Major MATH 32 , MATH 142 , or MATH 161A 3 units
CS or qualifying MATH upper division course 3 units
Major Elective. If CS 46A and CS 46B was taken in a language other than Java, then take CS 49J . Please see your CS advisor. 3 units
CS 147 - Computer Architecture 3 units

2nd Semester (15 units)

SJSU Studies Area S HIST 170S - Topics in American History: American Identities and Institutions meets US1 and Area S. If US1 was met previously then take a different Area S course 3 units
US and California Government course or a different major course if US2 and US 3 is met prior to transfer 3 units
CS 146 - Data Structures and Algorithms 3 units
CS 154 - Formal Languages and Computability 3 units
CS 151 - Object-Oriented Design 3 units

Year 2

3rd Semester (15 units)

SJSU Studies Area R course 3 units
Preparation for the Major MATH 129A. If taken prior to transfer then complete an upper division CS course recommended by advisor. 3 units

4th Semester (15 units)

Major CS 149 - Operating Systems 3 units
Select one course from CS 116B , CS 123B , CS 153 , CS 157C , CS 158B , CS 161 , CS 167B, CS 167C 3 units
Major and SJSU Studies Area V PHIL 134 - Computers, Ethics and Society 3 units
Upper division CS elective or qualifying MATH upper divsion course (see advisor) 3 units
Upper division CS elective or qualifying MATH upper division course (see advisor) 3 units

Roadmap Notes

A minimum of 40 upper division units must be completed for degree. This roadmap is a sample pathway. Check with a major advisor regarding the most appropriate course sequence for you. 60 units minimum will be transferred with this degree, however up to 70 transfer units can be applied to the lower division and lower division free electives if articulated.
