MATH 146 - An Introduction to Mathematical Cryptography 3 units Introduction to mathematics that has been useful in cryptography with a focus on the underlying mathematics (abstract algebra, number theory, probability, and combinatorics), and supporting applications (encryption, hash functions, blockchain). Additional topics may be covered.
Prerequisite(s): MATH 42 or MATH 42X, and MATH 39 (each with C- or better), or instructor consent. Grading: Letter Graded
Note(s): Recommended (but not required) one of MATH 108, MATH 126, MATH 127, MATH 142, MATH 163.
