PHYS 161 - Fundamentals of Quantum Information 3 units Introduction to fundamental topics in quantum information science (QIS). Course covers select concepts in quantum theory used in quantum technology including discrete quantum systems, measurements, quantum states, entanglement, and physical implementation of gate operations. Modern applications of QIS are discussed including quantum communication, quantum computing, and physical hardware for quantum bits.
Prerequisite(s): Graduate standing or and one of the following: PHYS 130 or MATH 33LA or MATH 39 . All with C- or better. Or instructor consent. Grading: Letter Graded.
