The Child and Adolescent Development, PK-3 Integrated Teacher Education Program, BA provides students with a set of courses that combine knowledge of Child and Adolescent Development with teacher preparation courses and field experiences that meet California state requirements for a Preliminary PK-3 ECE Specialist Instruction Credential. The roadmap includes courses with content that addresses PK-3 Subject Matter Competency and Teacher Performance Expectation (TPE) requirements laid out by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CCTC). The program also provides students with content related to addressing the needs of students who are English Language Learners (ELL) and/or who have special needs. Successful completion of this program leads to a Bachelor of Arts degree in Child and Adolescent Development and a preliminary PK-3 ECE Specialist Instruction Teaching Credential.

Freshmen and transfer students enter as ChAD BA Early Childhood track majors. Students apply for the ITEPB in the first semester of their junior year. Applicants must meet credential program standards and undergo screening for admission. -
All courses required for the credential must be completed with a grade of C or higher, unless otherwise noted. The cumulative GPA for all credential courses must be 3.0 or higher. |
