African American Studies, BA (2020-2021) (AA-T Global Studies or AA-T Social Justice Studies)

The AA-T in Global Studies or AA-T in Social Justice Studies guarantees the student will transfer with the completion of 60 transferable semester units. Students who earn either of these transfer degrees will meet the 39 units of lower division GE and 21 units of elective credit at SJSU. Below is the path to the BA in African American Studies degree in 60 semester units for students who earns either the AA-T in Global Studies or AA-T in Social Justice Studies.

- SJSU studies Area R course 3 units
- SJSU studies Area V course 3 units
- AFAM 159 - The Racial Wealth Gap in America 3 units
- AFAM 22 - The Humanities in African American Culture 3 units (F)
- Upper Division Elective. Select one course from AFAM 102 , AFAM 105 , AFAM 111 , AFAM 112 , AFAM 125 , AFAM 134 , AFAM 142 , AFAM 151 , AFAM 152 , AFAM 156 , AFAM 165 3 units
4th Semester (15 units)
- Major Senior Seminar AFAM 198 - Senior Seminar in African American Studies 3 units
- Upper Division Elective. Select four courses from AFAM 102 , AFAM 105 , AFAM 111 , AFAM 112 , AFAM 125 , AFAM 134 , AFAM 142 , AFAM 151 , AFAM 152 , AFAM 156 , AFAM 165 12 units
Roadmap Notes
A minimum of 40 upper division units must be completed for degree. This roadmap is a sample pathway. Check with a major advisor regarding the most appropriate course sequence for you. 60 units minimum will be transferred with this degree, however up to 70 transfer units can be applied to the lower division and lower division electives if articulated. |
