Chemistry, BS (2024-2025) (AS-T Chemistry)

The AS-T in Chemistry guarantees completion of 60 transferable units. Students may use the IGETC for STEM general education (GE) pattern that meets all lower division GE except for one course in Area C and one course in Area D. This transfer degree will meet the CHEM 1A , CHEM 1B , PHYS 50 , PHYS 51 , MATH 30 , MATH 31 , and CHEM 112A , CHEM 112B , CHEM 113A (for content credit only) requirements at SJSU.
Any prerequisite to a Chemistry course must have a grade of “C” or better (C- not accepted).
Below is the path to the BS in Chemistry degree in 60 semester units for students who earn the AS-T in Chemistry.
This roadmap has an approved P.E. waiver.

2nd Semester (15 units)
- GE Area C Course (can request to use PHIL 133 for this requirement) 3 units
- if GE Area C already satisfied, then take Lower OR Upper Division University Elective
- CHEM 100W - Writing Workshop: Chemical Communications 3 units (Writing in the Disciplines)
- CHEM 130A - Biochemistry 4 units
- CHEM 170A - Macromolecular, Supramolecular & Nanoscale Systems 1 unit
- Select 4 units of Science Elective(s) from: ASTR 117A , CHEM 121S , CHEM 131A , CHEM 180 , CHEM 191 , CHEM 213 , MATH 33A , MATH 33LA , MATH 39 , MATH 112 , MATH 138 , MATH 161A , PHYS 122 , PHYS 130 , PHYS 158 , or PHYS 160 4 total units
Roadmap Notes
A minimum of 40 upper division units must be completed for degree. This roadmap is a sample pathway. Check with a major advisor regarding the most appropriate course sequence for you. 60 units minimum will be transferred with this degree, however up to 70 transfer units can be applied to the lower division and lower division free electives if articulated. |
