LSTP 85B - Fieldwork in Humanities B

Part of a 3-course series (LSTP 85A, B, C) that provides prospective K-8 teachers to California’s public school classrooms with initial exposure to the elementary classroom setting. LSTP 85B provides a dual focus on diversity in the classroom and the development of a teaching philosophy. Readings and field experience familiarize students with the various manifestations of diversity (racial, cultural, linguistic, ability) in the classroom and prepare students to create a teaching philosophy that is responsive to the realities of today’s diverse classrooms. Coursework involves 10 hours of volunteering in a public-school classroom with a credentialed teacher and online assignments.
