HIST 162 - Colonial Latin America 4 units The course covers the colonial administration and society of the Spanish and Portuguese colonies in the New World. I also look at social, economic, and political conditions of the Iberian Peninsula and of the Amerindian empires on the eve of the conquest. The course concludes with an overview of the independence movements in Hispanic America and Brazil.
