AMS 10 - Stories that Make America


3 units
Introduces students to the political and historical origins of the U.S., as well as the ways these origins have been mythologized and reimagined in literature and social constructions of public memory. Along with studying primary source documents and archives within their historical context, students learn to analyze literature, popular culture, and public discourse to better understand the uses and misuses of historical memory. Focuses on a 100+ year span of history.

Satisfies C2: Humanities + US1: US History. When taken with AMS 11, completes the US1 + US2 + US3 (American Institutions) requirements.

Pre/Corequisite(s): Completion of, or co‐registration in,   is required.
Grading: Letter Graded
