RN to BSN Concentration, Program Coordinator and Advisor: Dr. Ricardo Ballin.

The RN to BSN Post-Licensure program, offered by The Valley Foundation School of Nursing , is designed for those who have completed an Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) program and are interested in obtaining a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN).

Admission occurs every Fall semester. The RN to BSN program can be completed in 3 semesters of full-time study.

Program Roadmaps

The 3 semester Roadmap is available online. Roadmaps should be used in consultation with the catalog and your advisor to identify additional requirements for completing the major (for example, course grade minimums).

Major-Specific Graduation Requirements

All courses required in the major require a grade of “C” or better or “Credit” (see admission impaction supplemental criteria ). In addition, students must pass background and drug clearances. Policies are posted on The Valley Foundation School of Nursing website.

1. Complete the Baccalaureate Degree Requirements

Students must satisfy the specific degree requirements for their undergraduate major and fulfill the following University degree requirements:

Academic (program total units with an average 2.0 GPA - “C” or better)
General Education (GE) (34 Lower Division + 9 Upper Division)
American Institutions (AI) (0-6 units) (may be satisfied in GE Areas 3B, 4, UD 3, UD 4)
Graduation Writing Assessment Requirement (GWAR) (3 units)
Physical Education (PE) (0-2 units)
Units in Residence (30 units, including 24 upper division and 12 in major)
Upper Division Units (40 units, including 12 upper div in major for BA, 18 upper div in major for BS)

Exceptions for University Graduation Requirements including exemptions and waivers, are approved for specific majors and on a case-by-case evaluation only.

2. Major Preparation (90 units)

Community College Lower Division Coursework (70 units)

Community College lower division coursework necessary for Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).

External Exam Credit (20 units)

NCLEX - RN examination

Students admitted to the program will receive 20 units of credit for passage of the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX) for Registered Nurses in their final semester of the program.
