The BA Art, Concentration in Studio Practice, offered by the Department of Art and Art History , is a degree for students who wish to pursue studio practice with the flexibility of a liberal arts degree. This could include a broad-based approach to artistic media or a focus on a single medium; university electives may be employed for any number of recommended minors. Students who wish to place more emphasis on the communication of ideas may opt to take classes, from painting, to video art, to glassblowing, to photography, to woodworking. Others may desire to specialize in one area as well as to develop preprofessional skills within the major. The BA Art, Concentration in Studio Practice allows students to tailor their own degree to meet precisely their artistic and career interests, while progressing through a rigorous core of theoretical seminars and art history lecture classes that will inform their work in any medium. The degree puts an emphasis on developing creative skills and the ability to fit into a variety of careers from high tech to arts administration.
