PHIL 117 - Philosophy of Race 3 unit(s) Introduces and analyzes the predominant philosophical, cultural and scientific views on race and examines the issue of racism primarily in American culture. Topics include: social construction of race, nature of racism, intersection of race and other systems of oppression (e.g. sexism, classism, ableism etc.), as well as contemporary issues such as race-based medicine, race and the industrial prison complex, immigration, and racial justice.
