Child Welfare and Attendance (CWA) Authorization

The Child Welfare and Attendance specialization is a supplemental authorization offered by the Department of Counselor Education for individuals who are pursuing the K-12 School Counseling pathway.The requirements for the Child Welfare and Attendance (CWA) Authorization can be met by completing all requirements for the Pupil Personnel Services (PPS) School Counseling Credential , including fieldwork in which candidates complete a minimum of 150 hours of field experience, under the supervision of a Pupil Personnel Services (PPS) Credential holder. A minimum of 90 hours are to be completed in a school setting in direct contact with pupils. A minimum of 30 hours are to be completed in interdisciplinary experiences in a setting that is outside the field of education, such as law enforcement, juvenile justice, child health and welfare, mental health, social services, child protective services and community based organizations. The remaining 30 hours can be at the discretion of the University Supervisor.
