MUSC 224F - Supervised Graduate Study Jazz Studies 2 unit(s) Intensive, individualized course focusing on advanced jazz performance, improvisation, and musicianship under the mentorship of faculty. This course emphasizes technical mastery, stylistic range, ensemble playing, creative improvisation, and repertoire development. Students participate in regular applied lessons, masterclasses, and performance projects, exploring historical and contemporary jazz genres. Coursework includes analysis, transcription, and documentation of performances, as well as reflection on personal artistry and professional preparation. May be repeated for credit.
May be repeated for up to 8 units.
Prerequisite(s): Graduate standing; Permission of Instructor. Grading: Letter Graded
