EDSP 10 - Bodies That Speak: Social Views of Communication Disability 3 unit(s) Explores communication through speech, sign, gesture, writing, and assistive technologies, with attention to how certain forms are privileged while others are marginalized. Drawing from disability studies, linguistics, and communication disorders and sciences, the course examines how systems of power influence who is heard, understood, or silenced. Case studies, media and perspectives highlight intersections of identity, race, disability, and language, with applications to community support and professional practices.
