CMPE 261 - Generative AI

Course explores the theoretical foundations and modern architectures of generative artificial intelligence across image, text, audio, and multimodal domains. Covers key generative model families-including Autoregressive Models, Variational Autoencoders (VAEs), Diffusion Models, and Latent Diffusion Systems-and their extensions to text-to-image, video, and audio generation using contrastive learning and multimodal embeddings. It includes hands-on implementation with modern frameworks, culminating in a term project focused on a selected generative application.

Prerequisite(s): CMPE 258  or instructor consent. Allowed majors: MS Artificial Intelligence, MS Computer Engineering, MS Software Engineering.
