Admittance into this degree offered by The Valley Foundation School of Nursing requires an Associate in Science degree in Nursing (ADN) and passage of the NCLEX - National Council Licensure Examination (by the second semester of the RN to BSN program) by the state of California, and completion of the 4 prerequisite courses Chemistry, Public Speaking, Critical Thinking, and Statistics.
Admission occurs every Fall semester. The RN to BSN program can be completed in 3 semesters of full-time study.

Major-Specific Graduation Requirements
All courses required in the major require a grade of “C” or better or “Credit” (see admission impaction supplemental criteria ). In addition, students must pass background and drug clearances. Policies are posted on The Valley Foundation School of Nursing website.

Core Lower Division General Education
Of the 39 units required by the university, 39 units may be satisfied by coursework outlined below. Courses that meet GE Areas A1, A2, A3, B4, or F must be passed with a “C-” or better to meet the requirement. Consult with a major advisor for details.
Upper Division General Education (3 units)
Of the 9 units required by the university, 6 units may be satisfied by major coursework outlined below. Consult with the major advisor for details. Of the 9 units, the following 3 units are not satisfied in the major.
American Institutions
The 6 units of American Institutions (US123) requirement may be satisfied in the major (if identified below) or by transfer from a community college or university. Other courses meet the American Institutions requirement, but may not include additional GE areas.

Physical Education
The Physical Education Requirement (2 units) is recommended to be completed before transferring from a community college or any university. All SJSU undergraduate students, regardless of major, have an opportunity to expand their knowledge and skills in physical activities. To accommodate students’ needs and interests, the university offers a diverse selection of activity courses .
