Overview
Undergraduate Education (UE) is involved with all aspects of undergraduate academic matters that support retention and graduation of students. It includes the following areas and programs: Academic Preparation Programs, Campus Reading Program, Center for Community Learning and Leadership, CommUniverCity, General Education, Catalog, and Curriculum.
The courses offered by UE under the subject University Studies (UNVS) promote leadership, integrated and applied interdisciplinary academic experiences for students. UE also sponsors the Interdisciplinary Studies undergraduate degree, which is an individually designed course of study leading to a BA or BS degree. The Interdisciplinary Studies degree is designed for situations in which no existing university-level SJSU undergraduate degree major adequately accommodates academic professional aims. Students who complete an Interdisciplinary Studies degree shall be able to demonstrate the characteristics of “intentional learners” who can adapt to new environments, integrate knowledge from different sources, and continue learning throughout their life.
