MUSC 166A - Mariachi San Jose 1 unit(s) Mariachi San José is an advanced-level university ensemble performing repertoire predominantly from Mexico’s música ranchera genre. The ensemble maintains an active schedule performing throughout the semester for university and community events. Ensemble participation requires audition.
Students are expected to be proficient in mariachi performance practice, as both vocalist and as an instrumentalist on one of the following instruments: violin, trumpet, guitar, vihuela, guitarrón, and/or arpa folklorico.
Course may be repeated for credit for up to 5 units.
Grading: Letter Graded.
