PHYS 253 - Quantum Many-Body Physics 3 unit(s) From the perspective of quantum information science, the course builds functional understanding of phase transitions and quantum simulations via systems of interacting spins. Systems of non-interacting Bosons and Fermions will be examined, followed by an examination of interacting particles via the Hubbard model and some coverage of numerical solutions for small systems.
Prerequisite(s): Graduate standing and PHYS 161 , or equivalent with approval of program advisor. Grading: Letter graded.
