Develops a foundational understanding of the histories, practices, and aesthetic strategies that have shaped popular culture in the U.S., and explores the intersections of gender, race, class, sexuality, colonialism, im/migration, and community identity that shape its production and consumption, as well as its potential as a platform for social change.
