METR 115 - Wildfire in the Earth System

Introduces students to the science of wildland fire on earth and in various ecosystems. Topics include extreme fire behavior in a changing climate, fire weather, fire danger, and national policies on fire suppression strategies and prescribed fire use in land management. GE Area: R.

Prerequisite(s): Passage of the Writing Skills Test (WST) or ENGL 100A / LLD 100A with a C or better (C- not accepted), completion of Core General Education and upper division standing are prerequisites to all SJSU studies courses. Completion of, or co-registration in, 100W is strongly recommended.
