The graduate certificate in TESOL, offered by the Department of Linguistics and Language Development, is designed to meet the needs of individuals desiring formal course preparation and training as classroom teachers of English to speakers of other languages but not requiring an MA degree. While the certificate is approved by the university, it does not provide certification, accreditation, or credentialing approved by the Commission on Teacher Credentialing. Students must maintain a 3.0 average in these courses to be awarded the certificate.
Any matriculated graduate student may pursue this certificate. Non-matriculated post-graduate students may take the courses through Extended Studies Open University.
