Business Administration, Corporate Accounting and Finance Concentration, BS

This concentration integrates accounting and finance disciplines to prepare students for careers in corporate financial management. Offered by the Department of Accounting and Finance , the curriculum develops an understanding of how to obtain capital, distribute funds, manage cash flow, evaluate competing projects, and run a firm from a financial perspective. This concentration teaches how to record, analyze and interpret financial information. The curriculum enhances the attractiveness of its graduates to corporate finance groups as entry-level hires, and for the long-term, positions them for roles as controller, treasurer, and chief financial officer. CAF graduates are able to move between accounting and finance careers, increasing their marketability in a field with great opportunities.

Major-Specific Graduation Requirements

All courses in the Concentration Requirements for Corporate Accounting Finance must be completed with a grade of “C or better”.The following Preparation for the Major and Required for the Major courses must be completed with a grade of “C or better”: ENGL 2 , MATH 70 , BUS1 20 , BUS2 90 , BUS1 170 .

1. Complete the Baccalaureate Degree Requirements


Students must satisfy the specific degree requirements for their undergraduate major and fulfill the following University degree requirements: 

  1. Academic (program total units with an average 2.0 GPA - “C” or better)

  2. General Education (GE) (34 Lower Division + 9 Upper Division)

  3. American Institutions (AI) (0-6 units) (may be satisfied in GE Areas 3A, 3B, 4, UD 3, or UD 4)

  4. Graduation Writing Assessment Requirement (GWAR) 3 units (see Writing in the Disciplines

  5. Physical Education (PE) (0-2 units)

  6. Units in Residence (30 units, including 24 upper division and 12 in major)

  7. Upper Division Units (40 units, including 12 upper div in major for BA, 18 upper div in major for BS)

Additionally, to qualify for a baccalaureate degree in business administration with a Corporate Finance Management concentration, all courses in the concentration must be completed with a grade of “C” or better. A cumulative 2.0 GPA is required in all business classes.
