Science Education Minor

The science education minor is designed as a program of study that will allow students who are interested in becoming elementary and middle school teachers to satisfy the Introductory Science Authorization course work requirements of the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing.
University Graduation Requirements
To be awarded a minor, at least 12 units of coursework must be completely distinct and separate from the coursework in the major (University Policy S16-4).

Minor Requirements (14 units)
Students interested in teaching high school science should take SCED 173 and EDSC 173 (open to seniors and post-baccalaureate students only; department consent is required). Students interested in teaching elementary or middle school science should take EDEL 108B and EDEL 102 (open to seniors and post-baccalaureate students only; department consent is required).
