Graduate TESOL Certificate (Graduate)

The certificate is designed to meet the needs of individuals desiring formal course preparation and training as classroom teachers of English to speakers of other languages but not requiring an MA degree. While the certificate is approved by the university, it does not provide certification, accreditation, or credentialing approved by the Commission on Teacher Credentialing. Students must maintain a 3.0 average in these courses to be awarded the certificate.

LLD 270 - Second Language Acquisition 3 units
LLD 271 - Intercultural Communication and Second Language Acquisition 3 units
LLD 280 - Methods and Materials for Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages 3 units
LLD 283 - Curriculum and Assessment in TESOL 3 units

Total Units Required (18 units)

Any matriculated graduate student may pursue this certificate. Non-matriculated post-graduate students may take the courses through Extended Studies Open University. Students must maintain a 3.0 average in these courses to be awarded the certificate.
