Overview

Chemistry is a central science that empowers us to understand and improve the world around us. In our department, students explore how chemistry contributes to solving global and local challenges-from developing sustainable energy technologies and reducing pollution to advancing medical discoveries and promoting human health.

Our mission is to prepare students to use their chemical knowledge and skills for meaningful contributions in their careers and communities. Through innovative coursework, hands-on laboratory experiences, and research partnerships with faculty, students learn to think critically, communicate effectively, and apply chemistry to real-world problems.

Faculty in our department represent a wide range of chemistry disciplines, including analytical, biochemical, computational, inorganic, nuclear, organic, polymer, physical, and chemical education research. They are dedicated mentors who work alongside students in research that is collaborative, inclusive, and intellectually engaging.

We are committed to unlocking the potential of every student in chemistry. Our program fosters a supportive and intellectually dynamic environment where diverse voices strengthen scientific inquiry. Our graduates go on to meaningful careers in biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, energy, green technology, and education - and many continue their journeys through advanced study in chemistry, medicine, pharmacy, and related professions.

Join our chemistry community to build strong scientific foundations, gain valuable laboratory and research skills, and make meaningful contributions to your future career and to society.
