AAS 183 - Oral Histories & Storytelling

An exploration of oral history as both a research method and a storytelling practice. Students examine how oral testimony is used in scholarship, writing, and digital or analog storytelling, with attention to ethical and qualitative interviewing techniques. The course engages historical and contemporary issues in Asian American and Pacific Islander communities through oral history analysis, including themes of war, migration, displacement, identity formation, and activism.

Grading: Letter Graded.
