HIST 123 - Age of Arthur to the Tudors: The British Isles 500-1500 4 unit(s) Explores the fascinating medieval history of the British Isles from c.500-c.1600, including developments in the political, social, cultural, economic, and intellectual history of England, Ireland, Scotland, and Wales. While the early middle ages (including Celtic Britain and Anglo-Saxon England) are covered, the focus is on the period from 1066 to 1500. Topics include the Norman conquest, Anglo-Norman conquest of Ireland, the Edwardian Conquest of Wales, colonization, the development of government (including kingship and Parliament), society, women and gender, differing cultures, the Great Famine, the Black Death, native revolts, the Hundred Years’ War, the Wars of the Roses, and the rise of the Tudors.
Prerequisite(s): Upper division standing or instructor consent. Grading: Letter Graded
