HUM 177B - Honors Society, Culture, and Science: Problems & Solutions 4.5 unit(s) From climate change to cultural transformation, societies have long turned to science for solutions, only to discover challenges in the process. This course investigates how different cultures have used both traditional and modern sciences to solve pressing problems, and how scientific advances have reshaped social and ethical life. Students will explore the interrelationship of society, culture, and various forms of science around the world, including issues of inequality, environmental stewardship, and creative expression. Students will encounter and engage intellectual perspectives from the humanities, social sciences, and sciences. 177B will include a semester-long project to integrate knowledge and skills in a research or creative process.
