ME 154 - Mechanical Engineering Design 4 unit(s) Mechanical design process. Introduction to linkages and kinematic pairs. Synthesis of mechanisms using the graphical and analytical approaches. Analysis of mechanisms: position, velocity, acceleration, and force. Stress analysis under combined loads, principal stresses, and stress concentration. Strain and deflection. Column design. Failure theories for static loads. Introduction to fatigue failure.
Prerequisite(s): ME 20 , ME 101 , CE 112 , MATE 25 , all with a C- or better. Junior or senior only. Allowed Declared Majors: Any Engineering. Pre/Corequisite(s): TECH 41 /ME 41 . Grading: Letter Graded
