HIST 175 - U.S. 1800-1860 4 unit(s) History of the United States from 1800-1860, a period of rapid change and modernization that transformed traditional colonial and post-revolutionary society. Topics include an increasingly democratic political culture for some, industrialization and changes in the workplace, commercialization and the emergence of a domestic market, urbanization, pivotal changes in institutions such as the family and church, a redefinition of key American values, antebellum slavery, Indian Removal, the Second Great Awakening, and reform movements.
Prerequisite(s): Upper division standing. Grading: Letter Graded
