BME 175 - Biomaterials 3 units Fundamentals of structure, processing, and properties of metallic, ceramic and polymeric materials utilized in biomedical devices and biotechnology. Effect of structure and processing on properties, especially biocompatibility, corrosion and long term reliability. Methods for characterization and testing of materials. New trends in biomaterials for interventional cardiology, implants, vascular prostheses, catheters and orthopedics.
Misc/Lab: Lecture 3 hours/Lab 3 hours.
