Dear Spartans,
Welcome to the 2024-2025 academic year at San José State University!
Whether you are taking the first step toward building a career or simply seeking personal enrichment, this catalog is designed to help you find the courses that will advance your educational journey. SJSU offers degrees in more than 140 majors at the bachelor’s level, as well as in nearly 100 fields of graduate study. The university also awards four different doctoral degrees and hosts a variety of credential, certificate and other programs. Whatever your interest, we have the classes that will help you achieve your goals.
College is more than classes, of course, and I want you to get the most out of your time at SJSU. Here are some ways to make your time here successful and special.
-
Find your fit and make new friends by exploring the 400+ recognized student groups (RSOs) that span a wide range of interests and topics.
-
Watch for interesting and entertaining events on the Sammy App and the Events Calendar on our university homepage.
-
Talk to your instructors about the hands-on learning opportunities available to undergraduates across all of our colleges. Many of these activities occur outside the classroom and provide the real-world experience employers are looking for.
-
Leverage the expertise and resources of your college-based Student Success Center or, if you are still considering which major to pursue, visit the Exploratory Student Success Center on the first floor of the Administration Building.
-
Take advantage of late-night tutoring at the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Library, which you can access in-person or online.
-
If you find yourself confronting an unexpected financial, food or housing emergency, reach out to SJSU Cares online or by stopping by the office on the first floor of Clark Hall.
You are about to embark on a new year of self-discovery, learning, engagement and belonging with your fellow Spartans. I look forward to soon adding your name to our growing list of notable Spartan alumni making a difference locally and globally.
It’s great to have you here at SJSU!
Sincerely,
Dr. Cynthia Teniente-Matson
President
